  • It IS a small world

    On my first day in Manila, I bumped into a long time client in the lobby of our hotel. After 27 hours and three flights and landing on the other side of the world, I see a fellow Upper West Sider. He is in the Philippines filming the Bourne Legacy. Manila is a very busy place with lots of traffic and commerce. To ease up on traffic congestion, every week day during peak hours only cars with a last digit that is an odd number can be driven certain days and a last digit even number the other days.                         Congratulations to my long time client and friend, John Pizzarelli! I recently found out that John was a part of Paul McCartney's newly released album, Kisses on the Bottom. John, and his father Bucky Pizzarelli, were guest guitarists alongside many other talented and well-known artists such as Diane Krall, Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, the London Symphony Orchestra, and many more.   • We got “stoned”

                  Last week Valerie and I went to a client's private exhibition of his latest painting. It was of Grand Central Station. Although I have been cutting Stone Robert's hair for many, many years we actually had never seen any of his works live. This was magnificent!!   • Architectural Photo Shoot

    Yesterday, I had the pleasure of watching and participating in an architectural photo shoot of the Robert Stuart Salon, with the exceptionally talented photographer Francis Dzikowski of Esto Photographics, and his assistant. Francis was here to reveal and celebrate the beautiful, unique work of my friend, architect and designer, Jim Evanson.                   Jim Evanson, of Evanson Studios, is the creative genius behind the design of our current home, located at 461 Columbus Avenue (corner of 82nd Street). He is an accomplished architect and designer whose work has been highly recognized and exhibited in many museums and galleries.     Today, a professional media team will be coming in to shoot a promotional video of the new Robert Stuart Salon. Our stylists as well as myself will be featured as we practice our hair art – haircuts, hair color, blowdries, updos, make-up, extensions, and more. Some of our clients will even be interviewed!
